Health Care Reform
|
|
What Does It Mean for You?
|

Capping a year of legislative activity and ending decades of frustration for millions of Americans, the House of Representatives approved a pair of bills that would extend health care coverage to more than 30 million Americans. The final vote was 219-212 in favor of the bill. The vote was not bipartisan or even unanimous from the Democratic standpoint. In the end, there were no Republican votes of support, while 32 Democrats voted “no.”
On March 23, 2010, the President of the United States signed the reform package into law. This measure represents the biggest expansion of the U.S. federal government's social safety net since the 1960s, when President Lyndon B. Johnson enacted the Medicare and Medicaid safety net programs that provide coverage programs for the elderly and poor.
Now that the hoopla is over, we as an industry need to take the baton and begin the implementation process. As we all know, the law is not perfect and it does not fix all the issues and challenges that consumers of health care face, but it is a start on which the industry can build. Our job is to learn, with the new reform laws and statutes as a backdrop, how to empower consumers to change behaviors and manage their health in order to control cost and improve quality of life.
Case In Point presents this special webinar to allow you to begin the process of improving your practice to meet the challenges we face as consumers and health care professionals. The faculty will address the issues and provide some practical recommendations that will assist you and your organization in improving on the intent of the health care reform legislation.

This training session offers an opportunity to discuss, share ideas and ask questions of leading professionals who have a broad vision of the complex healthcare system and what changes need to put into place to ensure safe, quality and cost-effective care for all.
The faculty will explain:
- How the industry transforms from a sick system to a healthy care system.
- How the provider side of the health care system will accommodate millions of Americans who will soon have access to health care other than through the emergency department.
- How medical management professionals can lead the health care team in ensuring care is safe, quality and cost-effective.
