Can I enter if I was a finalist last year?
Yes. Due to rapid changes in healthcare, professionals are called on to be creative and innovative and are rising to the challenge. The People Awards wants to recognize professionals and the important work they are doing to keep pace with the dynamic and changing healthcare system. If you were a finalist of the 2010 People Awards but did not win an award, feel free to re-enter with new data, or nominate another professional from your organization.

How are the entries judged?
Entries are judged by a panel of professionals who specialize in care coordination and understand the clinical side as well as the business side of healthcare. They are also familiar with the roles and responsibilities healthcare team are assuming and the challenges that go with those responsibilities.

Who is eligible to win an award?
All members of the care coordination healthcare team are eligible to submit one or more entries.

Where and when will the awards ceremony take place?
The winners and additional honorable mentions will be announced and honored at a special luncheon on  October 20, 2011, at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C. You may register here to attend the event.

How can I increase my chances of winning an award?
To increase your chances of winning an award, please provide objective data that clearly explains yours or the professional you are nominating accomplishments. If you have statistical evidence that supports the nominee, allows their accomplishments to stand out, validates their successes and raises their visibility in the eyes of the judges.

When will we be notified about the status of our entry?
Professionals who submitted an entry form or the person who nominated a professional who reaches the finalist level will be notified the week of July 17, 2011.

Are the awards affiliated with any professional organizations?
No, the Dorland Health People Awards is an independent competition. You do not need to belong to a specific professional organization to enter or win. Your submission will not be shared with any outside parties.

What if I want to submit to more than one category?
Please do. We encourage you to submit to any categories to which you feel your or a nominee excel, have made a contribution to successful change or innovative improvement to the ‘status quo’.
