Leadership in the Area of Quality and Process Improvement

Janet CorriganJanet Corrigan is president and CEO of the National Quality Forum, a not-for-profit standard setting organization established in 1999. The National Quality Forum has been instrumental in raising the bar in the area of healthcare quality. The organization's mission is to build consensus on national priorities and goals for performance improvement; working in partnership to achieve them; endorsing national consensus statements for measuring and publically reporting on performance; and promoting the attainment of national goals through education and outreach programs.

Leadership in the Area of Patient- and Family-Centered Care

Beverly JohnsonBeverley Johnson is the founding president of the Institute for Patient- and Family-Centered Care. The mission is to advance the understanding and practice of patient- and family-centered care. In partnership with patients, families and healthcare professionals, the institute seeks to integrate these concepts into all aspects of healthcare. Beverley has 25 years of experience in leading non-profit organizations. She also has clinical and administration experience in an academic medical center and has served as a hospital trustee for other organizations.

Improving the Care of Those with Mental Health Disorders

Debra OsteenAs senior vice president of Universal Health Services Inc. and president of the company's Behavioral Health Division, Debra K. Osteen has directed the growth of her division from 23 to 196 facilities throughout the United States and Puerto Rico since 1999, when she became president of the Behavioral Health Division. She was appointed UHS senior vice president in 2005. Debra joined UHS in 1984 and was named chief executive officer of The BridgeWay in North Little Rock, Ark., in 1987. She became group director in 1988 and was promoted to division senior vice president in 1990. Ms. Osteen is a past president of the National Association of Psychiatric Health Systems and in 2007 and 2011 she was named one of the "Top 25 Women in Healthcare" by Modern Healthcare magazine.

Empowering Professionals via Education and Professional Development

Maureen HowardMaureen Howard, RN, BSN, M.Ed.,CCM, is a truly innovative educator who has demonstrated this by her in-depth education curriculum created to offer  a high-touch, on-site case management program, successfully implemented across the country. This program has experienced high patient satisfaction rates (overall >90%), strong ROI (on average 2 or 3:1), and was validated through a cohort study in The American Journal of Managed Care. This was one of the first studies to quantify actual cost reductions from an expanded case management program.
