Polyp removal cuts colorectal cancer risk, study shows
The chance of cancer diagnosis was reduced by 60% among patients who had polyps removed during a colonoscopy over the past three years and 50% who underwent the procedure in the past five years, according to a German study in the Journal of Clinical Oncology. Researchers compared the rates with data from people who had not had an earlier colonoscopy.
