Drinking sugary beverages negatively affects metabolism
Regular intake of sugary drinks alters metabolism by making the muscles prefer burning sugar instead of fat for energy, a study in the European Journal of Nutrition revealed. Researchers said such changes may lead to a reduced ability to burn fat, which could make weight loss more difficult, and more difficulty in coping with rises in blood glucose.
