Eye screening every 2 years is safe for diabetes patients
Undergoing eye screening once every two years instead of annual checkups is safe and cost-effective for patients with diabetes, a study in Diabetes Care indicated. Researchers said there was little difference in the number of patients who developed retinopathy whether they were screened every one or two years. However, the American Diabetes Association recommends that people with diabetes get their eyes checked at least annually.
