The ANA's second edition of "Bullying in the Workplace: Reversing a Culture" includes ways to address the problem. Peggy Berry, a doctoral candidate at the University of Cincinnati College of Nursing, said bullying "becomes the social norm" and is passed on from nurse to nurse. She said people should be told they are bullying because they may not realize it, but cautioned nurses against retaliating against a colleague who bullies.
