Better safety practices aid nurse safety, patient health
Researchers assessed 28,876 patient discharges from 29 nursing units with 723 registered nurses and found that for
every 10-point increase in the average safety climate score of a unit, the odds of decubitus ulcer and nurse injury dropped 44% to 48% and 40% to 45%, respectively. They also found a 68% increase in the odds of nurse injury per 10%
increase in nurse turnover.
