ACOs will drive demand for case managers

With cost containment and improved outcomes necessary, ACOs will need case managers to strategically manage services for all patients. They will have to consider clinical, financial and patient advocacy functions simultaneously, as they balance competing interests, Catherine Garner, Dr.P.H., RN, F.A.A.N., writes in the Nurse Together blog. She notes the Bureau of Labor Statistics identifies case management is projected to grow faster than other job categories and a study by the Commission for Case Manager Certification finds more employers are requiring employers to be certified.
