Groups release guidelines on hyperglycemia in type 2 diabetes

The American Diabetes Association and the European Association for the Study of Diabetes issued new guidelines urging clinicians to use an individualized, patient-centric approach in type 2 diabetes management. "The message is to choose an appropriate goal based on the patient's current health status, motivation level, resources and complications," said ADA president Dr. Vivian Fonseca. The guidelines appear in both the Diabetes Care and Diabetologia journals.
