U.S. government invests in telemedicine development

The U.S. Department of Agriculture is distributing more than $30 million in funding to broaden telemedicine and distance-learning services in numerous regions of the U.S. The money -- which is being disbursed under the USDA's Distance Learning and Telemedicine program in the form of 34 individual grants -- will support the installation of telemonitoring equipment, videoconferencing systems and mobile equipment, among other things.
