Restrictions to ICU visitation should be reduced, nurses say

The American Association of Critical-Care Nurses has released an alert defining families and friends as "partners in care" and calling for less restrictive access to intensive care units. Visitation in ICUs "facilitates a better understanding of the patient, advances patient- and family-centered care and improves staff satisfaction," the group said.
