The CDC has released new draft guidelines aimed at preventing the transmission of infectious diseases, including HIV
and hepatitis, through organ transplants. As part of the guidance, the agency has recommended the use of
nucleic-acid testing no more than seven days before organ recovery. The guidelines also include a modified list of
donor risk factors.
