FICO, the company that keeps tabs on people's credit scores, has developed a Medication Adherence Score to predict patients at high risk for prescription drug noncompliance, which data show is a problem on some level for almost 75% of Americans. The score will be based on publicly available information, such as job and home stability, and can be used by insurers and health care providers to identify patients who need follow-up to ensure they take their medication properly. FICO says it expects 10 million people to have a medication adherence score within one year.
