For women who experience stress at work, there is more at stake than a sleepless night—heart problems may arise. According to a study in Occupational and Environmental Medicine, nurses who categorized work pressure as excessive were nearly 35 percent more likely to develop ischaemic heart disease than their stress-free counterparts. Women who faced little stress were 25 percent more likely to develop the condition. And those who reported moderate stress saw a 60 percent increased risk.
