The United States’ rank in infant mortality among the world’s countries, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s National Center for Health Statistics. The U.S. sees nearly seven infant deaths per 1,000 live births, a statistic that is 50 percent higher than the national goal. The U.S. dropped two spots from its rank of 27th in 2000.
