About the Webinar

Today, case managers are the point person for ensuring that all members of the health care team have information to assess individuals, develop a plan of care, and ensure the plan of care is effective in meeting the patient’s needs. Case managers across the continuum of care use multiple means of communication to transmit personal health information, which can leave them at risk if these systems are not compliant with the most recent rules and regulations. New and more sophisticated communication methods are emerging as a result of the recently passed economic stimulus package.

What does this mean? It means that organizations communicating personal health information, not aware of these changes and their inherent risks, can make you and your entire staff liable for costly legal issues.

Background:

Buried in the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 is the Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health (HITECH) Act. HITECH includes new rules and provisions which significantly expand the scope, the penalties and the compliance challenges of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act that was passed in 1996 (HIPAA) on individuals and organizations. These changes carry significant penalties, both financial and civil, if breaches occur.

In this training seminar, learn from industry experts as they explore HITECH and its impact on you and your organization. Discover strategies to guarantee compliance. Ensure the security and integrity of your practice.

This focused training will provide you with an action plan to address compliance in your organization. It will give you the knowledge you need to become an expert on the new regulations. And it will offer steps to help improve your workflow and advance your career.

Our Webinar Will Answer These Questions:

  • What are the key changes to HIPAA and what do they mean to you and your organization?
